British heavyweight star Joe Joyce wants Dillian Whyte on Mathcroom-Queensberry 5 vs 5 show
A British heavyweight has asked to be added to the Matchroom Vs. Queensberry 5 on 5 event and even named the opponent he would like to face on the bill out in Saudi Arabia.
This coming together of the two promotional rivals will see two fights at heavyweight, one at middleweight, one at featherweight, and one at light heavyweight.
It will be topped by Artur Beterbiev vs Dimitri Bivol in a unification fight, set to take place in June.
Although we now know the weights, we are still waiting for the fighters who will take part, and now one man, Joe Joyce, has put his name forward, via an interview with Betway.“I’d love the chance to fight in Saudi Arabia if and when it is presented to me as it seems to be the place to fight at the moment. It’s where it seems to be happening now and I want to get in that heavyweight mix so it would be a great opportunity.
“I would also like to fight Dillian Whyte. That would be a massive fight too, and it’s a fight people want to see. Styles make fights and I think our styles would gel well and it would be an entertaining fight for the fans.”
He was then asked what he made of Whyte’s comeback win following his own comeback victory against Kash Ali.
“I need to watch his last fight but like myself, it was his first fight back so there was some criticism and improvements can be made just like mine. If we were to fight, I would expect the best version of him. But there have been complications previously trying to make that fight but I would be open to it next.”
Whyte vs Joyce would indeed represent a great match-up and now doubt make for an entertaining fight between two powerful, brave men looking to rebuild and get back to their best.
