Goodwin Boxing presents Box Mania 9 – set to be their biggest show yet!
The much-anticipated and uniquely thrilling boxing series, “Box Mania”, is set to make its triumphant return to the iconic York Hall in Bethnal Green on October 12th, 2024.
Only last weekend, Goodwin Boxing delivered a stacked show that saw Luton star Linus Udofia crowned English middleweight champion for a second time.
The stage is now set for “Box Mania 9”, an event of extraordinary proportions, featuring an astonishing line-up of six title fights, a spectacular undercard, production quality that rivals televised shows, and an iconic, much-loved arena that will be sold out.
Promoter Steve Goodwin believes, “Box Mania 9 is going to be the most amazing non-TV show seen in years.”
Kingsley Egbunike vs Tyrone King, 10×3 Southern Area Super-Welterweight title
Headlining Box Mania 9, Obi (Kingsley) Egbunike (9-3-1, 11KO) defends his Southern Area Super-Welterweight title against Kent’s undefeated Tyrone King (5-0, 1KO).
31 from Acton, London, Egbunike won his title in April 2024 with a points victory over Jordan Dujon, live on the Wasserman promoted show on Channel 5, and now makes his first defence.
Sittingbourne’s King will be bringing his army of supporters from Kent believing that he will retain his undefeated record and collect his first professional title.
Egbunike is the vastly more experienced than King, who at only 24 years of age has youth and determination on his side.
Egbunike aims to use this defence as a springboard towards the English title for which he came up short on Sky TV against Lee Cutler in 2023. King aims to de-rail him and fulfil his own ambitions., howver
Timon Douglin vs Ross McGuigan, 10×3 Southern Area Light-Heavyweight title
The eagerly awaited Southern Area Light-Heavyweight title clash finally happens after being postponed from June.
Reading’s Timon Douglin (7-0, 2KO) defends his title against challenger Peckham’s “Fine Wine” Ross McGuigan (6-2).
34-year-old Douglin won his title with a seventh round knockout of Balraj Khara in March 2024, whilst McGuigan is undefeated since moving down a weight to 175lbs, with his only losses coming on Sky TV against the highly regarded Viddal Riley, and to Lewis Oakford.
Undefeated in 18 months, south Londoner McGuigan is coming to de-rail Douglin.
Denis Denikajev vs Matthew King, 10×3 Southern Area Super-Lightweight title
Former English Super-Lightweight Champion Denis Denikajev (12-1-1, 2KO) aims to become a two time Southern Area Champion when he takes on Matthew King (8-5, 1KO) from Portsmouth for the vacant super-lightweight title.
The talented Lithuanian-born Denikajev has lost only 1 of 14 fights in a defence of his English title and now aims to win back one of his old titles to force himself back into the reckoning for even bigger titles.
King has other intentions. He has boxed for the Area title once before at a higher weight (Welterweight) where he came up short against the highly touted Constantin Ursu.
Regarded as the underdog, having lost four from his last five fights, he has scored a knockout at welterweight and could be even more heavy-handed at super-lightweight.
Bilal Fawaz vs Ryan Amos, 10×3 English Super-Welterweight final eliminator
Two Champions collide in a final eliminator for the English Super-Welterweight title in a fight that could steal the show.
Former Southern Area Middleweight champion Bilal Fawaz (8-1, 3KO) takes on former Midlands area Super-Welterweight champion Ryan Amos (13-1-2, 2KO).
A fight that deserves to be for the full title has everything that a fight fan could want. Former decorated amateur Fawaz has won 8 from 9 as a professional whilst Amos has lost just 2 of 16 fights.
A contest that will take the winner into the big time and for the loser its a long way back.
Promoter Goodwin suggested this could be fight of the night.
Frankie Storey vs Lewis Frimpong, 10×3 Southern Area Bantamweight title & English title final eliminator
Two more Champions collide in a massive super Bantamweight Clash which is not only for the Southern Area title but is also a final eliminator for the English title at that weight.
Current Southern Area Champion the undefeated Frankie Storey (9-0, 1KO), 25 from Luton, takes on former Southern Area Champion and former English title challenger Lewis Frimpong (8-1).
34-year-old Frimpong has suffered only one defeat for the English title, in his last fight to Zak Miller, with one scorecard returned as 95-96 against.
Boxing pundits are split equally on the victor here and it is yet another fight not to be missed.
George O’Leary vs Constantine Williams, 10×3 Southern Area Middleweight final eliminator
Fireworks await when the undefeated “Machine” George O’Leary (5-0-1, 1KO) boxes Constantine Williams (6-1, 1KO) in a final eliminator for the Southern Area Middleweight title.
35 from Essex, O’Leary is undefeated in six bouts, now taking on once-beaten Williams, who is coming off an unsuccessful challenge for the actual title against Paul Gordon in his last contest.
O’Leary wants to send Williams into retirement, whilst the man from Hackney believes 30-year-oldger O’Leary is a stepping stone onto big things. Who will be right on the night?
Undercard
The eight fight of the card sees the unbeaten “Illyrian Soldier” Dennis Balazzhi (5-0, 2KO) take on a fighter with a winning record, India’s Manoj Kumar (3-1, 2KO).
The show is concluded by one of London’s leading light-heavyweight prospects Taiwo Mosuru (2-0, 1KO) having his third professional contest, and the undefeated Super Featherweight prospect Sher Khan (6-0) from Kent against Hull’s Luke Fash (3-109-3).
Box Mania is set to be a sold out event.
