Bill Haney continues feud with Floyd Mayweather
Despite having retired some years ago, Floyd Mayweather Jr. continues to dominate headlines and now Devin’s father and trainer Bill Haney has responded to his latest feud with Gervonta Davis.
Haney Sr. had a heated back and forth Facetime call with Mayweather in the wake of his son’s shock defeat to Ryan Garcia last week and now the former pound-for-pound number one has also had a fallout with his former fighter Davis.
WBA lightweight champ Davis spent has much of his career fighting under ‘TBE’s’ Mayweather Promotions but since ‘Tank’ became world champion in 2017 they have had a rather fractured relationship.
In this latest spat, Davis threatened to knock Mayweather out on Friday after Mayweather made a series of comments about the current generation of fights being more concerned with how they look than getting down to hard work in the gym.
Boxing journalist Michael Benson has shared a clip of Bill speaking on the latest feud and asking if the fallout is for clout or for real.
“Y’all gonna stop listening old boy. Now he came out and put his young homey in his drawers on his thing. Is it to sell pay-per-view and then say it’s some sugar in the tank or is it really just some salt in his old ass shaker?”
Davis is scheduled to defend his world title against Frank Martin in August, while Haney’s son Devin is looking to get a rematch with Ryan Garcia to avenge the only loss of his career to date.
