In a suprise turn of events, Terence Crawford appears set to move up two weight classes for a blockbuster showdown against Chris Eubank Jr. this summer
The fight has not been officially confirmed though the two men are said to be ‘close to agreeing terms’. No date or location has yet been revealed.
Backing up the claims, Eubank took to social media to share a promotional poster for the event.
The clash would place the fighters in a sticky predicament, with both men currently being trained by Brian ‘Bomac’ Mcintyre.
Crawford has worked with the American trainer since his teenage years, it would be unlikely that he would have any desire to uproot his relationship with the trainer and look elsewhere.
The problem therefore would appear to lie with Eubank, who while his relationship with ‘BoMac’ may be short, put on a stunning performance in his most recent outing against Liam Smith, his only fight under the watchful eyes of the 53-year-old.
Eubank had long been in talks of a fight with Conor Benn, looking set to continue the rivalry ignited by their fathers. However, following Benn’s failed drug tests, a fight never came to fruition.
Despite the meeting between the two appearing dead in the water, Benn has taken to X, mocking his rival following the recent announcements.
“Crawford will donate bomac to eubank for this fight as he don’t need a cornerman for this.”
While the fight announcement may come as a shock to many, Ben Shalom previously revealed that the meeting is something he would love to see.
“I’d like Terence to come and fight Eubank in the UK,” Shalom told The Sun in 2022.
“Obviously he’d have to come up in weight, but I think that’s a massive fight.”
