On Saturday night in Saudi, 33-year-old Liam Cameron gave Ben Whittaker a hard lesson, where the underdog from Sheffield was able to land at will upon the flashy showboater, especially the overhand right.
In the sixth round, the pair ended up falling over the top ropes, tumbling outside of the ring, with Whittaker citing an ankle injury and unable to continue.
Many fans believed the former Olympian used the bizarre scenes to escape a fight he was destined to lose, but it’s since been reported a suffered a sprained ankle.
Scores of 58-57 Whittaker, 58-57 Cameron, 58-58 even made the result a split draw.
Cameron believes he won the bout, but it’s certainly a fight that will have to be run back if Whittaker wants redemption, as his stock has dropped dramatically since October 12.
Whereas Cameron is as popular as ever and recently rewarded with a contract from Queensberry.
