BOXXER’s CEO Ben Shalom has named a fight he thinks will be a huge pay-per-view event
Shalom is riding high right now. This past weekend, he was ringside for one of the best fights of recent years when his man Frazer Clarke took on Matchroom’s Fabio Wardley in a historic 12-round battle for the British heavyweight title.
In an engaging back and forth, both men landed heavy shots and took their own blows well and the contest ended up as a draw, paving the way for a lucrative rematch down the line.
That fight was a long time in the making as Shalom initially pulled Clarke out of purse bid negotiations last year, on the grounds that his man was not ready, which proved to be a genius move, despite the backlash received.
He has recently done the same with Adam Azim, who was ordered to fight Matchroom’s Dalton Smith, and has now given his reasoning why.
Speaking to TalkSport about the potential match up, he says that timing is key.
“Dalton Smith against Adam Azim, just like Wardley-Clarke was, will be one of the biggest fights in British boxing. It will sell out an area and possibly be pay-per-view and they will earn five or six times what they will make in their next fight. What’s the message to Eddie? Let’s sit down and make some fights.”
Azim is now expected to fight Harlem Benn after the two came face-to-face in the ring this past weekend, meaning that Smith will have to wait, at least for now.
