Ben Davison excited for top amateur who has just turned over
Ben Davison has trained some top talents in recent years and has now declared that he has one man in his stable who he says will have ‘one of the most exciting career in British boxing history.’
And that is Luke McCormack, a silver medallist at the 2017 European Championships who competed again in 2019 and is now a light-welterweight looking to make his mark in the professional game.
Luke, of course, has a famous boxing bother in Pat. Both are proven to be top amateurs, with Pat already making moves in the paid ranks.
Now, speaking to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, trainer Davison has been asked why viewers should be excited about him.
Luke McCormack, why should people be excited about him? Because this is going to be one of the most exciting careers in British boxing history, possibly.”
He then qualified that with talk of his power.
“He is a wrecking ball. It is so suitable that he is fighting on TNT Sports ’cause he is going to be explosive. We almost laugh in the gym about how aggressive and how spiteful he is. He cleans out guys that are weights above him with big gloves so when he puts small 8oz gloves on it’s going to be exciting.
“He’s raw, he’s uncut, and he’s spiteful. I think some people will like that but some people will be taken back by that, but either way people will tune in.”
Luke turned pro with Frank Warren on February 28, with his pro debut yet to be announced.
