Anthony Joshua reveals his top heavyweight fantasy fights
Anthony Joshua is ready to step into the ring against Francis Ngannou tonight, March 8, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout provides an opportunity for ‘AJ’ to continue to build back towards the top of the Heavyweight Division.
The Brit is coming off the back of a stunning performance against Otto Wallin in December. Looking like the Joshua of old, he picked his shots carefully, walking the Swede down, landing venomous pocket shots and combinations.
Joshua took Wallin out in five rounds, but Ngannou may prove a harder foe to stop, appearing to have an iron chin when looking back at his days in the Octagon.
Despite three losses on the 34-year-old’s record, he has one of the best resumes in the Heavyweight division, with wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Joseph Parker.
However, not every fight he would like to have seen or been part of can be made possible. Building up to this weekend’s showdown Joshua spoke to Sky Sports, revealing his top all-time fantasy fights.
“I would love to have seen Sonny Liston vs George Foreman, that would’ve been a great fight.
“Mike Tyson vs Tyson Fury, that would be good. Obviously, he’s [Tyson Fury] named after him anyway, so that’s another fight I’d like to have seen.”
Joshua then went on to put himself in the equation, disclosing the heavyweight legend he dreams he could have met in the ring.
“I would’ve liked to have got the opportunity to box against Muhammad Ali.”
Ngannou may not be held close to the same regard as Ali, but after his performance against Tyson Fury, he will undoubtedly be no pushover come Friday.
If Joshua can put on another exemplary performance and come away the victor, we could be just months away from seeing him with an opportunity to crown himself as a three-time heavyweight world champion.
