Anthony Joshua has taken aim at Tyson Fury over some of his previous knockdowns in the ring
Former two time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has long wanted to take on his British rival and current WBC and lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Instead, he has recently taken on a former Fury opponent in Otto Wallin. That was back on December 23 as part of the Day of Reckoning card and he wiped out the Swede within six rounds when he quit on his stool after taking plenty of big shots early in the fight.
That night lead many to questions about how good Fury really is, as he went the distance with the southpaw Wallin back in 2019, and also suffered a terrible cut that required 47 stitches which came close to seeing the 12-round contest called off, which would have resulted in a loss for “The Gypsy King”.
Now, on March 8, Joshua is taking on Francis Ngannou, live on DAZN and Sky Sports, who Fury fought last year and only managed to come away with a close points win over 10 rounds after being knocked down in the third, despite former UFC champion Ngannou being a boxing debutant that night.
Ngannou has now been asked by DAZN whether Joshua has a chin ahead of meeting him in the ring in Saudi Arabia in three weeks’ time.
“As much as Tyson.”
Joshua quickly responded and referenced Fury’s fights with he likes of Deontay Wilder, Steve Cunningham and Ngannou.
“Who hasn’t knocked Tyson down? So many people have knocked Tyson down.”
It is fair to say both men carry plenty of power into this fight, which is what makes it so appealing to boxing fans.
