Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou earnings revealed
Tonight, Anthony Joshua will face Francis Ngannou in the latest instalment of the Saudi Arabian boxing takeover, with the former UFC superstar set to earn yet another mammoth payday since making the switch to professional boxing.
‘The Predator’ famously eclipsed his entire UFC earnings in just one bout when he squared off with Tyson Fury back in October, reportedly earning $10m for the clash, as well as growing his profile 10-fold after knocking down ‘The Gypsy King’ and being deemed as unfortunate by many viewers to not get the nod on the judges’ scorecards.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Fury earned a whopping $50m for the contest, despite his underwhelming performance and The Independent reports that Joshua is set to earn the same, whilst his Cameroonian dance-partner is poised to receive double what he got for taking on the WBC champion.
“Joshua and Ngannou’s respective earnings for the fight have not been made public. A number of publications cited a Sports Business Journal article, which apparently reported that AJ will make $50m to Ngannou’s $20m – not factoring in pay-per-view points.
However, the original article no longer lists specific figures. A Forbes article has endorsed the suggestion that those sums are accurate, however.
When Ngannou fought Fury in October, the Cameroonian earned $10m, according to Fury, whose friend Derek Chisora claimed that the “Gypsy King” made $50m.”
For ‘AJ’, the purse also represents a significant increase, with reports suggesting he earned closer to $10m for taking on Otto Wallin in December, but not quite topping the rumoured $75m that the Brit netted for his rematches against each of Andy Ruiz Jr and Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua-Ngannou will take place on Friday March 8th, and is available for purchase on both DAZN PPV and Sky Sports Box Office.
