Adrien Broner ready to replace Ryan Garcia in Devin Haney fight
Four-division world champion, Adrien Broner, has offered to step in and replace Ryan Garcia for his upcoming title bout against Devin Haney, due to Garcia’s ongoing and public problems that indicate that their fight may be cancelled.
‘King Ry’ has been acting out of character in recent days, posting a picture of himself smoking marijuana, followed by a series of disturbing posts on both Instagram and Twitter, that has led to concern from those that are close to him and reportedly led to him going to a psychiatric ward.
Few their fight date of April 20th fast approaching, WBC lightweight champion, Shakur Stevenson, has offered to move up in weight and challenge Haney for the WBC super-lightweight crown in place of Garcia and on an Instagram live with Devin’s father, Bill, Adrien Broner also offered himself as a late-notice replacement, after a back-and-forth regarding Haney’s recently leaked sparring footage.

AB – “If Ryan’s having mental problems, fight me you b*tch ass n***a.”
BH – “Guess what? My son is coming for you, AB, my son is coming for you, n***a. Listen, it is going to be your last payday.”
Broner at one point seemed set to become the new face of boxing, until a defeat to Marcos Maidana stunted his progress and lost him his WBA welterweight title, causing him to drop down to 140lbs. Although he picked up another loss to Shawn Porter, ‘AB’ bounced back with another world title win, but his career spiralled after defeats to Mikey Garcia and Manny Pacquiao, with the latter coming in January 2019.
Since that defeat, Broner has fought just twice, most recently defeating Bill Hutchinson last June, in what appeared to signal his comeback to the sport. However, for now, Broner remains inactive despite his ranking as the number 12 welterweight with the WBC.
