Carl Froch agrees to fight John Fury fight but on his specific terms
Carl Froch and John Fury have been going back and forth online all week and now Froch has accepted the challenge of a fight with the father of the world heavyweight champion under one condition.
This latest fracas started when Froch began to question the CV of Tyson Fury. He wondered whether the WBC and Lineal champion has been overrated for his wins against an ageing Wladmir Klitshcko in 2014, and two against the big punching Deontay Wilder, who was somewhat exposed when he lost a wide points decision to Joseph Parker on the Day of Reckoning card in Saudi Arabia back in December.
The same card also saw former Fury foe Otto Wallin get easily dispatched by Anthony Joshua even though he gave Fury much more problems back in 2019.
Froch has now also questioned whether Fury will make it to the ring on May 18 for the rescheduled undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
This all culminated with John Fury challenging Froch to fight at Wembley Stadium and now ‘The Cobra’ has responded.
Speaking on ‘Froch on Fighting’, he accepted the challenge.
“‘The Cobra’ is still in outrageous chiselled shape,” he began. “If you were stood across the ring from me with 10oz gloves on, it wouldn’t last long.
“If you’re talking about kicking me up the arse and giving me a slap, that’s a totally different story, that’s a roll around on the cobbles and you don’t want to go there with me. I’ll fight you for a fiver, I’ll beat you for a tenner, I’ll do both for 15!”
He then gave the one condition on which he would take the fight.
“If any kind of fight was to materialise, it wouldn’t be for financial gain, I’m sorry to burst your bubble. If this stupidly becomes reality because of YouTube and Misfits, I’d be doing it for charity. I certainly don’t need the money.”
Over to you, John.
