IBO release their monthly newsletter for August 2024
The International Boxing Organization is an independent, transparent and respected version of the world title.
In their monthly newsletter, the IBO report on all the activity within their unique organisation, such as recent fight results and a look ahead to their upcoming schedule.
Usyk-Fury 2
Will it be Repeat or Revenge this December 21st when IBO World Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury meet for their much anticipated rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia?
Usyk prevailed in their undisputed match last May by the narrowest of margins, winning via split decision after scoring a 10-8 round in the eighth stanza when he was able to inflict a standing eight-count on the British behemoth.
Up until then, Tyson had dominated most of the early rounds, but the incredible Ukrainian took over the latter stages of the contest to become the first undisputed heavyweight ruler of this century.
The undefeated champion is favourite to defend his title, with challenger Fury currently a 13/8 underdog.
Bivol-Berterbiev
No days off for undefeated IBO World Light Heavyweight champion Dmitrii Bivol as he prepares for one of the biggest fights of his career against undefeated Artur Beterbiev on October 12th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for all the titles at 175lbs.
Not only are the two Russians undefeated champions ready to risk it all in a winner takes all undisputed match, but it’s their polarising styles which makes this so interesting.
AB is a powerful puncher who has KO’d all of his 20 victims, making him the only reigning world champion with a perfect 100% KO record.
But Bivol, who has only knocked out half of his opponents, is a master of range who can keep his foes on the end of his jabs to dominate contests on points.
Will it be brain or brawn, strength or skill that will triumph? Right now, the odds are close as they can get, with Beterbiev slight favourite at 21/20 and Bivol at 10/11.
“The Apache” vs “The Leeds Warrior”
We’re officially one month out and IBO World Super Featherweight champion Anthony “The Apache” Cacace is in full camp as he meets Josh “The Leeds Warrior” Warrington at Wembley Arena on September 21st.
This will be the third defence of the Irishman’s IBO World Super Featherweight title, taking place on the Dubois-Joshua undercard, which has now sold out.
“Sweet” Caroline
IBO World Lightweight champion “Sweet” Caroline Dubois put on a sublime performance with a unanimous decision victory over Uruguayan Maira “La Panterita” Moneo in Barnsley.
Moneo was down in the sixth round, courtesy of a powerful, precise left hook from the 23-year-old Londoner.
Signed to BOXXER, Caroline recently named her hitlist: “Katie Taylor is obviously the biggest name out there. But luckily there’s so many other big names out there too: Alycia Baumgardner, Rhiannon Dixon, Terri Harper and Beatriz Ferreira.”
More “Magic” from Ricardo Malajika
IBO World Super Flyweight champion Ricardo “Magic Man” Malajika, 25 from Johannesburg, returned to action at the Emperor’s Palace against fellow countryman Yanga Sigqibo, knocking the South African out in round 11.
It was his second title defence and sixth win in a row.
Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 2
Under 90 days out from the biggest rematch in Women’s Boxing history when IBO Super Lightweight champion Katie Taylor takes on Amanda “Real Deal” Serrano on November 15th in Arlington, Texas, live on Netflix.
