Background
26-years-old from Woodville in Derby, Zach Parker comes from a fighting family that includes father Darren – a former pro and veteran of 200 amateur fights, while his two brothers – Duane (14-1 as a pro) and Lee – were also both in the sport, as well as cousin Connor Parker, 25, who is a promising super lightweight also on the Queensberry books.
Managed by Neil Marsh, Parker made his pro debut in July 2015 and now makes his Queensberry debut on this show after terminating his contract with Matchroom Boxing and signing with Frank Warren in February.
After building up a big punching reputation in the division, Parker's major breakthrough came in November 2018 when he was awarded the verdict in a split decision battle against Darryll Williams to win the British title. Unfortunately, this success came at a cost and a period out of the ring followed due to a dislocated shoulder sustained early in the first round of the fight that required triple surgery. After making a routine return six months later, Parker then reinforced his No.1 status with the WBO by winning the International title with a late stoppage of his closest rival in the rankings, the Australian Rohan Murdock in March of last year.
His 20th opponent hails from Saint Louis in Missouri, and is known as 'The Animal'. All his four career defeats have come in his last seven fights, but he has never been stopped, even when in with top prospects such as Anthony Sims Jr and formidable Kazakh Zhanibek Alimkhanuly.
Predictions
Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “Parker hasn't fought for an entire year, but I believe he'll pick up where he left off and get another stoppage to make it three in a row. I know that Alexander has never been stopped before, but he is 35 now and hasn't fought since 2019. Parker will want to come back with a bang and make a statement in his first fight with Frank Warren, and he'll have 10 rounds to catch him.”
