Y2 Boxing won the Goulamirian-Egorov bidding
Y2 Boxing won the promotional rights for the WBA cruiserweight title fight between undefeated champion Arsen Gulamirian (26-0, 18KO) and mandatory challenger Aleksei Egorov (11-0, 7KO).
The company, was represented by Yohan Zaoui and David Berlin, made an offer of US $364,000.00, which exceeded those of the other participants and set the date for the fight on November 19 in Paris or Le Cannet Cote D’ Azur, in France.
The contracts signed by both parties with details of the venue and the date must be sent in the next few days under the times established by the WBA internal regulations.
The split for the fight will be 75% for Frenchman Goulamirian as champion, while the challenger will keep 25% of the purse.
The World of Boxing promotion also participated with a bid of US $303,000.00 but did not reach the winning company’s bid.
Goulamirian-Egorov is another fight that is part of the plan to reduce the number of world titles in an important division such as the 200 lbs. division, which already has a single champion by the pioneer organization.
'Feroz' has reigned as the WBA champion since November 2019 when he defeated Kane Watts in four rounds, then remarkably defended the title in the very next month, December 28, 2019, with a ninth-round TKO over Constantin Bejenaru. However, he has been inactive up to now.
Egorov also fought in the same month of December 2019, winning a 10-round unanimous decision against Serhiy Radchenko in his native Russia. The former IBF International cruiserweight champion fought again three months later, but, just like Gulamirian, has been inactive ever since, which provides an even playing field for fight night.
