Sunny Edwards vs Andres Campos leads World title triple-header event in London
Croydon’s Sunny Edwards (19-0 4KO) makes his Matchroom debut in a defence of his IBF World Flyweight title against Chile's Andres Campos (15-0 4KO) at the OVO Arena Wembley, London on Saturday June 10, live on DAZN.
Campos has fought abroad twice before in his career, but never in England, so BBN have listed a few facts about the unfamiliar visitor:
Andres Campos
Andres Ignacio Campos Gonzalez was born September 15, 1997 in the Chilean capital, Santiago de Chile, which is the same place ‘The Mandalorian’ actor Pedro Pascal comes from.
As an amateur, Andres had around 80 bouts and won multiple national championships and represented the Chilean National Team internationally.
The 26 year old is known as ‘The Chilean Crocodile’, which he abbreviates from ‘Chilean Crocodile Campos’ to ‘Triple C’. He's also known as ‘CISA’ and ‘The Pride of Barnechea’.
He is trained by Hernan Gauto from Argentina and Nicolas Orellana from Chile.
Andres had his pro debut in his home country Chile on August 10, 2018, and won his first four fights on points.
13 months on from his pro bow, in September 2019, Campos won the Chilean flyweight title, in his sixth contest.
He has also won WBA Fedebol and WBO Latino flyweight titles. He has held the WBO Latino belt for three years and defended it three times.
Campos is the No.1 ranked flyweight in Chile and also ranked WBA #13, IBF #7, WBO #6, IBO #20.
He is managed by Australian Tony Tolj, who has high hopes for his 112lbs charge, "He's a class act and he has not just a massive future, but a massive present. I genuinely believe he's going to go on to become a multi weight world champion. He's showing all the signs that he is able to do that. Andres has impressed in camp with both Moloney brothers, and he is going to be the next Latino breakout flyweight star. I believe a fight with someone like Julio Cesar Martinez is a realistic goal for Andres over the next 12 months."
He has trained in Australia with Andrew and Jason Moloney, Billel Dib and Bruno Tarimo of Africa under the guidance of trainers Angelo Hyder, “El Tigre” Tony Nobbs and Craig Wilson”.
