Things you didn't know about Lewis Ritson next opponent Dejan Zlaticanin
Lewis Ritson (22-2, 13KOs) headlines a packed card at the Utilita Arena as he takes on former world champion Dejan Zlatičanin (24-3, 16KOs) in the main event on Friday, March 25.
Having only fought in Britain just once before, BBN decided to find out some interesting facts about the visiting fighter.
Dejan Zlatičanin was born April 23, 1984 in Podgorica, Montenegro.
A top amateur, he took part in multiple European and World Championships during the early 2000s.
He is the first ever boxer from Montenegro to win a world title.
The 37-year-old is 5ft 4in tall with a 165cm reach.
The southpaw has fought in the UK before, back in 2014, when he defeated Ricky Burns in Glasgow to win the vacant WBC International lightweight title. He has also competed in Russia; America; Serbia; Bosnia; and, of course, his home country of Montenegro – 13 times.
On June 11, 2016, Zlatičanin became the first Montenegrin world boxing champion when he stopped Franklin Mamani in three rounds to claim the vacant WBC lightweight title. He lost the belt in exactly the same fashion in his first defence when Mikey Garcia KO'd him with a huge right hand in the third round of their January 2017 fight. He remained unconscious for several minutes after the knockout.
He has been trained by Jose Benavidez Sr. in the past, but now he trains with Buddy McGirt.
He is managed by Uroš Ðikanović.
His alias is 'Dynamite'.
He has a young daughter named Sofja.
