‘Dangerous’ Don Moore is set to become Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather's 51st opponent
It was announced in early April that on Saturday, May 14, 2022, the legendary multi-weight champion, Floyd “Money” Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs), will return to the ring to face fellow undefeated American, “Dangerous” Don Moore (18-0-1, 12 KOs), in the headlining matchup of the inaugural edition of “The Global Titans Fight Series,” a unique global-boxing event, staged “in the skies of Dubai”, on the helipad of Dubai's opulent Burj Al Arab Hotel, and broadcast live, worldwide, via premium digital-streaming service LIVENow.
Mayweather is long known for his greatness in the ring and being one of the most highly decorated athletes in any sport, but just who is his 51st opponent, Don Moore? BBN found out some interesting info below:
Don Julian Moore was born on February 27, 1980, which makes him 42-years-old today.
He was a decorated amateur boxing champion from the Gary Pal Boxing Club, a nonprofit organisation located in Gary, Indiana. The boxing club's main priority is to keep their community's youth out of trouble and away from violence.
He has spent time in prison and says that boxing saved his life.
His professional boxing debut took place one month after his 19th birthday on March 27, 1999, in his home city of Gary, Indiana. He stopped Cincinnati's Jimmy Holloway in round two of four. Future three-time world heavyweight title contender, Fres Oquendo, was on the same bill that night, moving up to 13-0 with a sixth-round knockout.
He calls himself “One of the Best from the Midwest” and “The Midwest Success”.
“Dangerous” Don Moore is a long-time sparring partner of Floyd Mayweather’s all during his career, and formerly trained by his late Uncle, Roger Mayweather, who he has called his father figure, trainer and mentor. He has also sparred with Zab Judah, the last undisputed welterweight champion; as well as British boxing legend, Ashley Theophane.
He now coached by Kennie Johnson, who was three-time Michigan State champion.
Don was named “Dangerous” for a reason – he knocked out 12 of his 19 opponents, resulting in a 63% KO ratio. Eight of his KOs came in the first round.
His loyal following were known as 'Team DDM'.
His last fight was on September 24, 2019, in Georgia. He knocked out Texan super-welterweight, DeShaun Williams, in two rounds.
He has a son, Donjullian Moore Jr., who graduated from Groveport Madison in 2021, and two daughters – one is a grown up called Amina Mier, with her own beauty business, and the other is under a year old, Katalaya Amirah Moore, born August 10, 2021. His cousin is famous Boston Celtics basketball player, E'Twaun Donte Moore, who also played for Orlando Magic and Chicago Bulls. He also has an older sister, Dominique Mclemore.
He has his own business, an apparel company called Fly Native.
He has a strong faith in God, often quoting verses from the bible.
He is a proud dog owner of an Australian Shepherd.
