Things you didn't know about Magali Rodriguez
Caroline Dubois (7-0, 5KO) challenges for the IBO World Lightweight Championship against Magali Rodriguez (22-6-4, 9 KO) on September 30 at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, live on Sky Sports.
22-year-old prodigy Dubois, the younger sister of WBA World heavyweight champion Daniel, was an outstanding amateur, now a pro signed to BOXXER, fighting live on Sky Sports, headlining shows and challenging for world titles in just her eighth professional bout! "Sweet" Caroline is a fast-rising star in the UK, but not as much is known about her opponent, who comes to England to fight for the first time in her 14-year career.
So BBN found out as many fast facts about the visiting fighter below:
Isela Magali Rodríguez López was born September 4, 1992 in San Nicolas de los Garza, Nuevo Leon.
Her alias is "Tormenta", which is Spanish for "Storm".
She trains in Monterrey, Mexico.
Her manager is Jorge Huerta Cerna, who also looks after the career of unbeaten Ambar Mendoza Covarrubias.
Her pro debut was on September 8, 2009, four days after her 17th birthday, against Yolanda Segura, winning via second-round knockout.
She fought less than a month later but lost on points to Magdalena Leija, which she rectified with a points win in her next fight.
Turning pro very young, she lost three from her first seven bouts.
In her 11th contest and just two years and two days from her debut, she challenged for the WBC Silver super-bantamweight title, but the 19-year-old lost in round three to Maria Elena Villalobos.
She went eight fights unbeaten in the next two years and earned a shot at the WBA World title, but narrowly lost via a mixed decision to Irma Garcia.
She finally won her first title – the NABF super-bantamweight belt – by defeating her WBC Silver rival Maria Elena Villalobos within 22 seconds!!
Then she won the WBC Silver super-lightweight title in her first fight abroad, in France, against Victoire Piteau. She defended it to another French national, Estelle Mossely, in April this year in Tajikistan, the bout declared a draw after 10 close rounds.
Magali didn't fight at all for three years, between April 2019 to April 2022.
She was due to fight Sandy Ryan last year, but the bout fell through.

Quotes
Ben Shalom: “Caroline Dubois is exceptional and we’ve said ever since she turned professional with BOXXER last year that we expect her to become the future face of the women’s sport, not only in the UK but on the world stage. Her ambition is as big as her talent, but even I didn’t expect her to blast her way to a world title opportunity in just eight fights.”
