Campbell Hatton faces Sonny Martinez in his next fight
Campbell Hatton’s (3-0) fourth pro bout, on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk, comes around just six months on from his debut in March this year.
The 20-year-old Manchester City fan, trained by his uncle Matthew, defeated Spaniard Jesus Ruiz (0-11) on March 27 on points in his professional debut; then he saw off British journeyman Levi Dunn (0-4) in his next fight on the blockbuster Derek Chisora vs Joseph Parker Sky Sports Box Office event on May 1; culminating with a win over Poland's Jakub Laskowski (4-5-1, 2KOs) on Week One of Matchroom's 'Fight Camp' series on the last day of July.
All three triumphs have been scored at 40-36, which means 'Hurricane' Hatton has yet to lose a single round.
Fledgling pro Campbell has been boxing properly since the age of 14 and won a National Novice championship, plus two North West titles. After struggling to get suitable amateur boxing matches, he turned pro in December last year.
BBN decided to dig up some interesting info about his next opponent, Sonny Martinez (2-4):
Who is Sonni Martinez?
Hatton's fourth opponent was born Sonni Maicol Martinez Moreira in 1991, and he is currently 29-years-old.
He comes from Montevideo, which is the capital of Uruguay. It is the largest city in the country and hosted every match during the first FIFA World Cup in 1930, which Uruguay won.
He went attended tke Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia school in the Benimaclet area of Valencia.
This will be his first fight outside of his country of residence as a pro. He currently resides in Valencia, Spain.
His nickname is 'El Uruguayo', which simple translates to 'The Uruguayan'.
He won his pro debut in 2014 with a six-rounds points win, but lost his next four fights. He won his last fight in May this year, with another points victory.
He stopped boxing for four-and-a-half years during 2016-2020.
He fought unbeaten Irishman Ryan 'The Silent Assassin' O'Rourke in September 2020, in his first fight back, losing the six-rounder competitively with one judge scoring it closely at 56-58. The 22-year-old Dubliner in now 7-0.
His style of boxing isn't great, but he can be awkward when he dips his head and throws overhand shots. When fighting on the inside he actually looks rather good, but he isn't particularly fast or possesses any kind of power. His jab isn't very useful, he is easy to hit, but quite light on his feet, and he complains quite a lot.
His seven opponents' records combined equal to 16-13-3.
