Ben Whittaker faces Petar Nosic having already fought him as an amateur
West Midlander Ben ‘The Surgeon’ Whittaker (1-0, 1KO) celebrated a triumphant professional debut just three weeks ago in Bournemouth and now the Team GB Olympic hero will head back to the ring this Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, against a former foe in Petar Nosić (6-0, 3 KOs).
But who is ‘B£NZO’s’ second professional opponent, Petar Nosić? Find out a few facts about the Croatian below:
Petar Nosić was born in 1999 in Ljubuski, a city located in the south-west of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 23-year-old now lives in Vrgorac, which is a town in Croatia in the Split-Dalmatia County.
On his amateur debut, in November 2015, the Croatian was stopped inside two rounds by Whittaker, in the 2015 EUBC European Youth Championships Preliminaries.
He may find himself with a lot of support on fight night, having lived in Cork, Ireland, for a period of time, representing Brian Dillons ABC. The Croat combatant competed in the National Under 22s tournament, as well as the Celtic Box Cup and the 2020 National Elites.
He has shared the ring with the late Kevin Sheehy in the 2018 Irish U22 Championships Semi-Final, then again in the 2019 Munster Championships Final. That same year, the five-time Irish champion, Sheehy, was tragically murdered in a hit and run in Limerick.
He is trained and managed by Bosko Mišić in Čapljinski.
Currently undefeated in six professional bouts, Nosić boasts a 50% knockout record since turning pro back in June 2021.
What is coach, Bosko Mišić, has said: “In the past year, Petar had six matches in professional boxing and achieved six victories. Thanks to his flawless streak, he has the opportunity to box on the biggest boxing scene in the world. We have worked hard until now and we are going into this match fully prepared.”
