Things you need to know about Jorge Silva

32-year-old Londoner Yarde is a huge star in the UK, and known all over the world, but his 27th opponent has only fought in England once before, so not a great deal is known about the European visitor, so BBN have listed a host of interesting facts about him below:
Jorge Domingues Silva was born on July 1st, 1983 in Matosinhos, Portugal.
His boxing nickname is, 'Gentleman'.
His pro debut was in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain, on June 25, 2004, winning via first-round TKO against a fellow debutant and local fighter, Oscar Lopez.
He only won two from his first six contests, but managed to win the national Portugal super-middleweight title in his ninth bout.
He later became a two-weight national champion, when he won the Portugal light-heavyweight title in 2020.
He has also won the WBC Mediterranean Super Middle, which was, once again, away from home, in France, against a local fighter. He dropped Bilel Latreche in the first round, winning via unanimous decision after 12 rounds.
The 40-year-old has experienced 30 bouts and 163 rounds, and has fought in Spain, Portugal, Finland, France, Denmark, Morrocco, Croatia, and England.
Silva came to England in February when he lost to Kieron Conway on points on the Leigh Wood vs Mauricio Lara undercard at the Nottingham Arena.
He remains the only person to have scored a knockdown against IBF and IBO Youth World super-middleweight champion, Leon Bauer, a German prospect currently unbeaten in 20 bouts,
He has won six from his last seven contests, which includes five stoppages.
Silva has flown to Las Vegas to train at the Mayweather Gym with Jeff Mayweather before, in 2018.
Jorge had a professional kickboxing fight in March 2007.
Silva is a WBL (World Boxing League) World boxing champ, which is an organisation arranging and conducting boxing, mma and muaythai events around the world.
He is friends with compatriot, Uisma Lima, who British fight fans will remember for his thrilling fight with Aaron McKenna in June.
The champion boxer is now a qualified boxing coach.
Jorge is married to Nancy Moreira and they have two young boys together. Born in Cape Verde, Nancy was a national amateur boxing champion and professional boxer too, currently unbeaten in two bouts in the welterweight division.
