Having accepted a challenge laid down by Amir Khan – who became world champion at just 22 years old – to win his first world title at an even younger age, the 21-year-old Azim is taking a big step up in opposition in an attempt to fast-track himself into world title contention.

Aram Fanyan Facts
Aram Fanyian was born in Brovari, Ukraine on February 2, 1997.
His pro debut was in November 2014, winning over four rounds against Artem Komar in Kiev, Ukraine.
He is Ukraine's second best super-lightweight on BoxRec.
His sole career defeat was to then unbeaten Italian Rene Tellez Giron in October 2018 when challenging for the WBC Youth Silver super-lightweight title. A second round knockdown and eighth round point deduction cost him the points decision, otherwise he would have just edged it.
He won the WBO Oriental super-lightweight title in December 2020, then won the IBO International super-lightweight title in November 2021.
Four of his last seven fights have ended by knockout.
Aram has beaten two undefeated opponents before.
His name on the BOXXER posters is spelled Aram Fanyan; BoxRec spell it Aram Faniian, but the correct spelling is actually Aram Faniyan.
He is friends with IBF Inter-Continental welterweight titlist Karen Chukhadzhian, who recently took Jaron Ennis 12 rounds. He's also friends with Ukrainian super-lightweight champ Mishiko Beselia; and Vyacheslav Senchenko, who sent Ricky Hatton into retirement in 2012.
His brother, Igor, is a retired boxer turned promoter. He challenged for the Ukraine super-welterweight title twice. He owns a gym called Sparta Box.
