WBC Prospect of the Week: Serhat Güler
The World Boxing Council continues apace with its weekly selection section, duly and aptly praising prospects who seek their Green and Gold prize.
Important to recognize and appreciate that the first years in professionalism are some of the most complicated. Young boxers enter the ring to fight bouts of 4 and 6 rounds, doing so, to gain exposure, experience and a livelihood, by taking graduated steps on the long road towards the glittering prize . For this precise reason, we want to recognize, applaud and laud the blood, sweat and tears effort and sheer grit. Putting it on the line by stepping up to the line.
Today, we talk Turkey by recognizing Serhat Güler, a boxer with extensive amateur experience, abundant ambition and the wily resourcefulness to realize it.
Serhat Güler started his career as an amateur boxer in 2014 and with important victories he quickly positioned himself as one of the most promising Turkish boxing prospects for many a year.
At the end of 2022, he decided to debut as a professional boxer. A smart move, because his aggressive and explosive style adapted and dovetailed perfectly. In just one year he has fought four times, winning each of them.
Last week he passed the most exacting test of his career, as he faced the undefeated Rostam Ibrahim with the WBC international silver light heavyweight belt at stake. Serhat proved his worth by defeating his rival via KO in the sixth round.
The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaiman wished Serhat Güler the greatest success on his path to conquering Green and Gold Glory.
