WBC orders Garcia vs Cruz lightweight eliminator
The World Boxing Council has ordered the fight between lightweight contenders Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (22-0, 18KO) and Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (23-2-1, 16KO), which will be an eliminator for the lightweight title currently held by Devin Haney (27-0, 15KO).
If both fighters and their teams cannot reach an agreement, purse bids will be called.
“I’m so excited! It’s time to make this happen. Let’s give the fans what they want!” 23-year-old Californian Ryan Garcia declared on his social media.
The WBC lightweight champion, Devin “The Dream” Haney, will fight for the supremacy of the 135-pound division against Australian “Ferocious” George Kambosos Jr., the reigning WBO, WBA, IBF World champion, and franchise boxer of the governing body, on Saturday, June 4 at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
