Alex Winwood vs Cris Ganoza
Australia’s fastest rising contender Alex Winwood (3-0, 2KO) returns December 1st on the 44th instalment of popular bi-monthly Thunderdome boxing series at the home of Western Australian boxing, Metro City.
The main event will see unbeaten Aussie take on Filipino Cris Ganoza (20-5, 10KO) over 10 rounds in another litmus test for the fast-rising strawweight star.
26-year-old Winwood currently sits at WBC #2, IBF #5, WBO #8, WBA #13, IBO #14 and has lofty ambitions for a World Championship challenge in 2024.
Sitting in Winwood's way is veteran Filipino Cris Ganoza, a 25-fight veteran. Current World WBC strawweight champion Yudai Shigeoka fought a tough Ganoza in his fifth professional fight and the Mandurah man will meet the 29-year-old southpaw in only his fourth fight as a professional.
Winwood opened up about his upcoming bout, “I want the best and I believe Ganoza is really the best available opponent for me. He is a southpaw; the WBC #1 contender Luis Angel Castillo Sotto is a southpaw and World Champion Yudai Shigeoka is also a southpaw. This is my John Wick hit list.

Who is Cris Ganoza?
Cristituto Restituto Ganoza Jr. was born 13th August 1994 in Matalom, Leyte, Philippines.
He is 5’ 5” tall.
His nickname is “Ai Ai”.
He won his pro debut on points on January 25th, 2014, against Roderick Naduma.
He reached 12-0 and challenged fellow unbeaten Filipino Edward Heno for the Philippines light-flyweight title but lost by knockout in the ninth and penultimate round.
Cris also challenged for the WBO Asia Pacific Minimumweight title against Yudai Shigeoka but was KO'd in three rounds by the future world champ.
The 29-year-old is currently 20-5 and has knocked out half of his victims.
