WBA No.2 heavyweight Martin Bakole joins BOXXER
New BOXXER signing Martin Bakole (18-1, 13KO) has his sights set on huge heavyweight nights after he put pen to paper on a new long-term fight deal.
Ranked at the top by the WBA, the 29-year-old heavyweight, who resides in Scotland, will fight exclusively for BOXXER on Sky Sports.
His next fight will be announced in due course but Bakole – who now hails as “The Next King of Scotland” – believes he is destined for huge success.
Trained by Billy Nelson in Scotland, Bakole is ranked in the top 15 with all five governing bodies: WBC #7 / WBA #2 / IBF #6 / WBO #13 / IBO #10.
In his last bout, in May 2022, he defeated Olympian and unbeaten Frenchman Tony Yoka in his own backyard in Paris.
His sole career loss came at the hands of avoided heavyweight contender Michael Hunter in 2018 after sustaining a debilitating right shoulder injury in the final round of 10 at the York Hall in London.
Since then, he has reeled off six straight victories, five coming by way of knockout. However, due to external circumstance including the pandemic, his momentum of fighting fighting four times in 2019 was disappointingly stalled when he fought just once in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
With his new deal with BOXXER and lofty world rankings, hopefully 2023 will see the Congolese combatant fight more regularly in 2023. The prospect of a WBA 'Regular' World title fight with Daniel Dubois is a tantalising fight that would get plenty of attention.
