Viviana Ruiz goes for the WBA Oceania title
Bogota boxer based in Australia, Viviana Ruiz (6-1, 3KO), will appear this Friday, April 21 at the Royal International Convention Centre in the city of Bowen Hills, Queensland, Australia, to try and take over the WBA Oceania regional belt in the flyweight category against the Thai Khwunchit Khunya (4-13-1, 1KO).
Colombian-born Sydney resident Ruiz had an active 2022 with five successful performances that keep her undefeated. Four of them were in her homeland and the last one was in Thailand against Phanit Yongyut, where Ruiz won by technical knockout in the second round. While Khwunchit Khunya had four bouts last year losing two and winning 2 after returning to the ring from a long break since 2017.
Ahged 40, Ruiz will arrive this Friday with five straight victories behind her. This will serve as her second championship contest having won the WBC Latino flyweight title last August, which is now in the hands of newest champion Gabriela Fundora. This will be just Ruiz's third fight in Oz, having competed once in Thailand and four times in her country of birth, Colombia.
