Fabiana Bytyqi ready to defend WBC Atom crown
Undefeated Czech Fabiana Bytyqi (19-0-1, 5KO), will defend her WBC Atom title against Mexican Elizabeth López Corzo (10-4-4, 1KO), this Friday 29 July in Ferizaj, Kosovo.
The 26-year-old Czech boxer, managed by Burim Sylejmani, won the WBC world title in September 2018, defeating British boxer Denise Castle, from Bournemouth, who is still fighting aged 50 having contested the WBC Silver atomweight title earlier this year in March.
In April 2019, she defended her title for the first time drawing in a great match against Mexican María Vargas.
That November she defended her title for the second time defeating another Mexican in Ana Arrazola. Subsequently, she had four non-title battles and now faces the number three defence of her crown, against a quality rival as she approaches a four-year reign.
'Veneno' Corzo, 30, who was a FECOMBOX champion, challenged Costa Rican Yokasta Valle for the IBF World minimumweight title in December last year, however, she was outscored by decision. From Cancun, Corzo has only won half of her last four fights.
