WBC Bantamweight World Champion and future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire (41-6, 27KOs) will defend his title against undefeated Interim WBC Bantamweight Champion and fellow Filipino countryman Reymart Gaballo (24-0, 20KOs) headlining action live on SHOWTIME Saturday, December 11 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Dignity Health Tennis Stadium in Carson, Calif.
13 years his junior, 25-year-old Gaballo earned his right to challenge the champion after winning the WBC Interim bantamweight title in his last fight in December 2020, where he edged past once-beaten Emmanuel Rodriguez on a split decision.
Two years on from his epic World Boxing Super Series final with Japanese 'Monster' Naoya Inoue, where the two fought tough and nail to a points decision which went the other way for Donaire, the 38-year-old Asian sensation hasn't been back in the ring since May 2021 when he dethroned unbeaten champion Nordine Oubaali in four rounds to rip his WBC belt away from him.
The four-weight world champion is one of only four Asian boxers and one of just three Filipino fighters in history to have won world titles in four different divisions.
The two Filipino's will clash on December 11, 2021, which will be well over 20 years on from Donaire's professional debut and a good 14 years since his first world title win.
Tickets for the live event go on sale today, Tuesday, November 2 at 12 p.m. PT and can be purchased at AXS.com
