Doncaster duo join the expanding JE Promotions team
Doncaster’s undefeated duo Ryan Stevenson (6-0) and Josh Padley (1-0) have signed management contracts with Joe Elfidh, the head honcho of JE Promotions.
Both boxers are next in action on the MTK show in Bolton on Friday, September 13.
Manager Joe Elfidh said, “I’m glad we’ve inked the deal with these two talented fighters. They have both fought on my promotions before and they are both really gifted and well-schooled.
“They are trained by Ian Alcock at the Doncaster Boxing Academy, who is a really good coach who I hold in high regard and, as a team, we will be picking the right fights for them at the right time to move the lads into title positions.”
Both boxers hail from Armthorpe in Yorkshire; Padley is 23, Stevenson 25.
Josh Padley only kicked off his pro career in April with a shutout points win over Stockport’s ‘Devil Child’ Jamie Quinn (5-81-2) at the North Notts Arena in Worksop on a JE Promotions event.Ryan Stevenson recorded his sixth career win on the same card and first stoppage victory, with a third round TKO over Dan West (5-5-2) after he couldn’t recover from a heavy left hook to the head.
Stevenson has raced to six wins from six in just 18 months as a pro puncher. Having already moved up to six rounds in his last fight, the six-footer is looking ahead to championship opportunities.
“Ryan is ready to go for the Central Area title next,” enthused Elfidh. “We are willing to take on the winner of the Lewis Booth vs Kurt Grieve.”
Unbeaten Doncaster fighter Lewis ‘2 Smooth’ Booth (10-0) meets Kurt Grieve (7-2-1) for the vacant Central Area welterweight title on October 4 at the Doncaster Dome.
23-year-old Booth gets the home advantage over 35-year-old Blackburn boxer Grieve, who has only won two from his last five fights.
Elfidh, a former pro himself, mentioned plans for an expansion into Doncaster, “Looking to put on a show in Doncaster later this year with Josh and Ryan, as well as Mark Bennett, Cameron Kaihau, Kyle Fox and I will be adding some more names soon. We are finalising the venues as we speak.”
