Will it be a Viking sunset or an Aztec dawn?
Mexican Star Yuliahn “Cobrita” Luna (25-3-1, 4KO) will fight a bantamweight title unification war against undefeated champion, Dina Thorslund (18-0, 6KO),for the WBC and WBO belts on September 1 in Holstebro, Denmark.
Yuliahn will travel over 5,800 miles to defend for green and gold belt for the third time against the unbeaten against WBO titlist in her home country. In fact, Thorslund only has to travel 10 minutes up the road from Struer to Holstebro for this fight. Both female fighters are 29-years-old and reigning world champions.
The Mexican fighter has been a bantamweight and super bantamweight champion. She has won important victories abroad, so has no qualms about embarking on a Norse voyage to the fjord!
Thorslund was also a monarch in two divisions, super bantamweight and bantamweight. She first became a champion in her eighth bout, winning the WBC Youth World super bantamweight title in her home town of Struer in January 2017. Then she became the European champion less than two months later. Despite winning the WBC Interim World title in 2018, she chose to challenge for the WBO World super bantamweight title in the next fight, then defended it three times before dropping down to claim the vacant bantamweight version in 2021, which she has now defended three times.
So, will it be a Viking sunset or an Aztec dawn? Only one month until we find out…
