Unbeaten super-middleweight Luke Haigh has the date for his second pro fight confirmed
Harworth and Bircote’s newest professional boxer, Luke Haigh (1-0), is all set for his second fight in the professional ranks on March 9 at the North Notts Arena in his hometown of Worksop on a JE Promotions and Scott Calow Boxing co-promotions event.
The super-middleweight won his professional debut against journeyman Scott Hillman (0-31) last October at the Harvey Hadden Centre in Nottingham on another JE Promotions and Scott Calow Boxing co-promotion.
The popular ticket seller cruised to a shutout points victory, scored at 40-36 by referee Shaun Messer, on the same night that unbeaten talent Ekow Essuman (9-0) was crowned the new English welterweight champion in the main event.
‘Cool Hand Luke’, 26-years-old, trained by former Central Area champion Josh Morgan, will take part in another four-round contest against an opponent yet to be confirmed.
The rising prospect hails from the same small village where his manager Joe Elfidh came from and has the support of the surrounding area.
Elfidh commented, “Of the 40 plus fighters I manage, Luke is actually from the same village as me in Worksop and we’ve known each other since kids. It’s a close-knit village where everyone knows each other so he has great support from the local area and sold more tickets than the headlining fight did in his debut."
Haigh shares the bill with fellow JE Promotion fighters Kyle Fox (6-0); Sonny Price (5-0); and Andy White (2-1).
