Brad Strand is happy to be back to business so soon after his last fight
Unbeaten super-bantamweight prospect Brad Strand (5-0, 2KO) heads back to the ring just 42 days after his last fight.
The 24-year-old from Liverpool will enter into first ever six-rounder on Friday, September 10, at the Liverpool Olympia.
In his last appearance, Strand scored the second stoppage victory of his two-and-a-half-year pro career against Steven ‘Livewire’ Maguire (1-22-1), on July 30 at the Devonshire House Hotel in Liverpool.
Trained by Paul Stevenson at the Everton Red Triangle gym, Strand was too heavy-handed on the night for the journeyman from Middleton, stopping the southpaw in the third of a scheduled four-rounds in what was his first fight back in an entire year.
Prior to his fifth fight, he predicted his strength would be on display, having built a lot more muscle during the enforced lockdowns and extended time away from the gym.
A former ABA Elites champion, Strand is now over the moon to be back in the ring again so soon after his pro career stalled due to COVID-19, “It’s exactly how boxing should be – fight, then straight back in the gym with another date booked in. No one wants to be waiting six months for a date,” he commented.
Trainer Paul Stevenson added, “Brad is really on the move in terms of his development, he’s hitting harder and faster, and developing into a fine fighter.
“I really do have very high hopes for him. All he needs now is some momentum and a couple of fights in a month is just what he needs.”
Signed to Hall of Fame promoter, Frank Warren, he now hopes for more fight dates this year.
“Normally, I would have been about 12-0 by now, but hopefully I’ll get a few dates off Frank Warren before the end of the year,” he added.
Strand is joined on the show by Everton Red Triangle teammates Andrew Cain (7-0, 6KOs), a hard-hitting bantamweight with six KOs from seven bouts, and undefeated welterweight Jack McKinlay (2-0).
