WBC Youth champ Ozaki defeats Sitthisak
By Joe Koizumi
Unbeaten Japanese prospect, WBC Youth light flyeight champ Yuga Ozaki (4-0-1, 4KO), a fast-punching southpaw, 108, scored a very important victory over Sitthisak Simsri (15-2, 15KO), 106.75, a hard-punching Thailander, when Ozaki dropped him twice in the first round and had him in great trouble to have the referee declare a halt at 1:53 of the second round in a scheduled 10-round championship contest on Sunday, August 10, in Osaka, Japan.
The show was hosted by Taisei Promotions.
20-years-old from Hyogo, unbeaten Ozaki looked so sharp and smooth that he connected fast combinations to the highly regarded Thailander, quickly decking him twice in round one. 21-year-old Simsri had a narrow escape, and he scored with a big left midway in round two. Ozaki, however, retaliated with a furious combination to have him helpless to the ropes to cause the referee’s intervention.
Simsri had only lost once in 18 bouts and was a Thai and Asian minimumweight champion. Ozaki has fought all winning fighters in his career except on his debut.
Ozaki won the WBC Youth title in his third professional bout, and the prestigious belt has previously been worn by Jorge Arce and Kenshiro Teraji.
