Jermaine Franklin's promoter claims his ‘Future heavyweight champion’ is close to fighting Dillian Whyte
Lord Ping caught up with Ukrainian boxing promoter Dimitry Salita this morning.Salita confirmed that undefeated Michigander Jermain Franklin (21-0, 14KO) is close to agreeing fight terms with Briton Dillian Whyte (28-3, 19KO).
He also gave an update on Otto Wallin being considered for a fight with Anthony Joshua next year.
‘Future heavyweight champion’ Jermaine Franklin very close to fight with Dillian Whyte
‘We are very close to finalising a deal for Jermaine Franklin to face Dillian Whyte in London on November 26th on DAZN. If you have not heard of Jermaine Franklin you're about to discover a fighter who is destined for big things, we have a future heavyweight champion on our hands.
‘Jermaine is young, hungry, skilled and has waited patiently for his opportunity. I believe there is no better opponent for him to face than Whyte at this stage of his career. We respect Whyte, he's experienced and his left hook is one of the best in the business. He's also in the last chance saloon, so that makes him dangerous. But Franklin, I believe, will come to the UK as the hungrier, fresher man and that'll be the difference on the night. With Whyte towards the end of his career, this will be a real changing of the guard fight, as the heavyweight division ushers in a future star.’
Otto Wallin is being considered for a fight with Anthony Joshua
‘Otto Wallin I believe is on the shortlist to face Anthony Joshua in a fight that would likely take place next year. There are some talks and I know Otto is one of the names being considered. Otto wants to get that rematch with Tyson Fury and he believes a win over Joshua will make him the people's choice for the fight. Otto and Joshua's styles would be combustible which would be great news for the fans.’
