Mohammedi fends off Sinisterra
On Saturday at the Pasino Grand Aix in Aix-en-Provence, France, the Frenchman Souleimane Mohammedi (12-0, 1KO), successfully defended his WBC Youth Middleweight title by defeating the hard hitting Colombian Carlos Sinisterra ( 9-1, 8KO) via mixed decision.
Mohammedi had to work hard to overcome a difficult and determined opponent. In fact, the Colombian showed great power, a forceful left hand and good footwork to put Mohammedi in difficulties at times. But based on his clever boxing and nifty feet, Souleimane was able to obtain and gain an important victory with scores of 78-74, 78-74, 76-76.
“Of course I am very happy with this victory. It was a very difficult fight and I was not at 100%. My opponent bothered me a lot with his left and I started my fight badly. I was able to recover little by little, but it was a very close fight. I promise to do even better for my next fight” commented Souleimane.
The supervisor of this fight was the Vice President of the WBC, Houcine Houichi.
The 20-year-old from Aix-en-Provence is now ranked within the top five French middleweights.
