Cherrelle Brown heads to Belgium to face world title contender Djemilla Gontaruk
Islington's Cherrelle Brown (6-0, 2KOs) heads to Belgium to face world title contender Djemilla Gontaruk (16-7-2, 2KOs) in her home city of Liege.
The contest will be promoted by GMG Promotions and will take place on Saturday, 9th January 2020.
28-year-old Gontaruk has only won three form her last eight bouts, but she has fought at the highest level. She is European featherweight champion, which she won on her third attempt in 2015. Known as 'The Pitbull', she has challenged for world titles on three seperate occasions – the WBO super-featherweight twice and IBO once.
34-year-old Londoner Cherrelle Brown started boxing at Islington Boxing Club aged 25 and is now unbeaten in six bouts as well as being the reigning WBC International Female super-lightweight titleholder.
“Hummingbird” Brown represented England internationally as an amateur boxer and has trained at the English Institute of Sport, alongside Anthony Joshua, Joshua Buatsi, Josh Kelly, and Nicola Adams.
