Five unbeaten boxers put their perfect records on the line in Ultimate Boxxer 7
A famous Eubank, Central Area titlist, former Commonwealth champ, five unbeaten prospects and unbeaten KO artist among the most high-profile UB line up yet
The eight super middleweight boxers competing at Ultimate Boxxer 7 on Friday 3rd April have been revealed.
Eight contenders from across the country, five with perfect records, a Brazilian, a reality star and a fighter from boxing royalty.
After Heavyweight destruction last time out, where Chertsey banger Nick Webb claimed the 'Golden Robe', Ultimate Boxxer 7 should also provide plenty of thrills as eight super-middleweight contenders go head to head in a knockout tournament that only one can win and claim the lion's share of the £50k prize fund.
On April 3rd in Manchester, at least five perfect records will be shattered on the night, as six of the eight contenders boast 0’s, with a Eubank in the mix, Brazilian fighter Diego Costa and title holders from across the country.
The short form boxing spectacle once again promises to entertain as TV talent, celebrities and stars from the boxing world come together to witness the most unpredictable of tournaments, and with ticket sales seeing record highs during presale, you can expect this event to sell out early.
As ever, the draw to see which fighters will face off at the quarter final stage will happen in the build up to the event.
The Line-up
All eyes will be on British fighter Sebastian Eubank (2-0), 28 from Brighton, who will put it all on the line on the night just two years on from his pro debut.
With extensive combat sport pedigree and with a surname that is set to turn heads amongst the boxing community, he has everything to prove as he looks to continue his unbeaten professional record in the ring. Those that train closely with him will tell you that he has the famous Eubank knockout power.
At just 22 years old, Manchester’s Mark Jeffers (11-0) will enter the night full of confidence following his recent Central Area title win. With 11 wins from 11 fights, the Northern Ireland-born super-middleweight goes into the tournament as one of the favourites, with comparison’s already being made to Ricky Hatton – many tipping him to go to the very top in the sport.
Unbeaten Brummie boxer Idris Virgo (5-0-1) comes into the tournament entering the peak of his career. Best known for being a contestant in Love Island back in 2017, the 26-year-old will be determined to be taken seriously in the professional sport with his exciting style and personality.
KO artist Diego Costa (7-0), who hails from Brazil via Manchester, joins the tournament with the best knockout ratio on the card. 'Dynamite' is yet to taste defeat in his professional boxing career and his explosive nature is sure to excite fans as he looks to maintain his unbeaten record. He most recently picked up the Phil Martin trophy in his Contender VIP final win over fellow unbeaten boxer, Boris Creighton, now 6-1.
Next up is former Commonwealth Super Middleweight Champion Luke Blackledge (26-9-2), who fights out of Darwen in Lancashire. 29-year-old Blackledge, who went 10 rounds with WBA 'Super' champion Callum Smith, brings the most experience to the card and will be seeing this as his last chance to hit the big time, especially having lost his last three fights on the road.
Representing Scotland is the current Celtic champion, Tommy Philbin (13-1) who returns to his favoured super middle weight and will be looking to return to winning ways when he steps back inside the ring after experiencing defeat for the first time in his last fight in the Golden Contract light-heavyweight tournament.
Finally, two Manchester based fighters complete the line-up. The established Charlie Schofield (15-1-0), who holds a very impressive fight record and stands at 6ft 3 inches tall. And 22-year-old Ben Ridings (3-0), the youngest fighter in the tournament who will be looking to maintain his unbeaten record in front of his own fans.
Ultimate Boxxer super-middleweights sees the scintillating series return to Manchester for the second time in six months. Last time out Nick ‘Wild’ Webb was crowned the winner of the heavyweight edition coming out on top on points against unbeaten Mark 'Bad News' Bennett in front of a 4,000-capacity crowd.
Benjamin Shalom, Promoter at Ultimate Boxxer said: “We’re excited to bring Ultimate Boxxer to a monster super middleweight division. The Ultimate Boxxer shows have been growing in popularity with huge ticket sales and now a sold-out pre-sale for this show.
“This time we decided to bring a group of high-profile names to the card to give something extra. There is no doubt this is our highest quality card to date.”
He added: “Ultimate Boxxer has already proved it’s a platform for boxers to go and compete at the very top of the sport. Shakan Pitters, Mikael Lawal and I hope Derrick Osaze will all be fighting for British titles this year. This year there will be even more opportunity for our winners on our shows’
