Tyson 'The Gypsy King' Fury took to social media to confirm fight with Dillian Whyte
Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte confirmed for April 23 at Wembley Stadium
The WBC heavyweight championship will be defended by champion Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22KOs) to mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19KOs) on Saturday, April 23, reportedly at Wembley Stadium.
The 33-year-old from Morecombe signed off from social media with this message: "I'm about to go off social media completely for the next eight-and-a-half weeks, gonna go into training camp to give Dillian Whyte all the respect in the world that he needs. I'll train for him like he's 'Muhammad I'm Hard Bruce Lee' foro this camp. I'll never underestimate anybody in my life and I'll give this man all the respect he deserves, coming as the No.1 ranked WBC heavyweight challenger in the world today.
"Please don't follow me, call me, email me text me or try to contact me in any single way because I am out of bounds until May. I'll see you all at the press conference and I'll be training away, please appreciate my privacy and space. Until the press conference guys, I shall see you all soon."
Brixton boxer Whyte has been silent on social media for a long time already, as he prepares for the biggest fight of his career without distraction.
The 34-year-old Jamaican-born Londoner waited until the final moments before signing the contract to fight Fury, seemingly angered by his lowly 20 per cent purse for the lucrative fight, which promoter Frank Warren bid $41million for the rights to stage. It means that Whyte will earn a minimum of £6million for turning up on fight night, with titleholder Fury set to bank more than £24million.
Both Fury and Whyte scored spectacular stoppages in their last fights to set up this huge heavyweight showdown.
