Fury vs Wilder III confirmed!
Tyson Fury will defend his WBC heavyweight title against arch rival Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas on July 24.
It was confirmed during Top Rank’s event on Saturday that Fury will put his belt on the line against Wilder this summer, with the duo meeting for a third time following Fury’s dominant stoppage win back in February 2020.
It looked like Fury would take on IBF, WBA and WBO champion Anthony Joshua in a unification battle this summer, but the Gypsy King is now planning on producing a big performance against Wilder before targeting Joshua later this year.
Fury said: “It’s been a whirlwind last few months. I’ve been enjoying life and training hard and waiting for a fight for a long time. I’m a fighting man and I want to fight. It doesn’t matter if it’s Joshua, Wilder or whoever.
“I’m happy to be back in my town. Vegas is my town. Wilder will give it a good roll of the dice because it’s his last hurrah. I have his heart, soul and mojo. Every bit of him I have in my pocket and I’ve carried it around with me for 18 months.
“Wilder is an idiot and I’ve got to beat him better than last time. This time I will smash him. Once I smash him then it’s Joshua. He has a big mouth and is no substance.
“Joshua says I do all the talking. If I didn’t talk then boxing would be stone dead. I’m the only character left in this sport. Me vs. Joshua happens this year. I’ll deal with Wilder first and then deal with Joshua straight away.”
