Tyson Fury retires on his 34th birthday
WBC World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has officially announced his retirement from boxing today, on August 12, which is also 'The Gypsy King's' 34th birthday.
He took to his social media platforms to say, "Massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years and after long, hard conversations, I've finally decided to walk away, and on my 34th birthday I say 'Bon Voyage'. Here's a few who made it special along the way: Frank Warren; SugarHill Steward; BT Sport; John fury; Spencer Brown; Steve Egan; ESPN; WBC; Top Rank; Jimmy Harrington; Isaac Lowe; Ben Davison; Kristian Blacklock; Matt Massage; Timothy Allcock; Robert Davis; Shane Fury; Hughie Fury; James Ward; sorry if I missed you, there's too many to name!
"Massive shoutout to Paris Fury who helped me more than anyone.
"And most of all thank you God, see you all on the other side you big dossers, 2008-2022."
President of the World Boxing Council Mauricio Sulaiman confirmed the news, "Just finished a touching video conference with TysonFury, who has confirmed his official retirement from boxing. We fully support his decision which is a dream for anyone to retire undefeated and as WBC champion of the world. WBC Boxing will prepare a special farewell event soon."
When asked if the WBC heavyweight crown is now vacant, Sulaiman didn't respond.
