Troy Williamson vs Josh Kelly
British Super Welterweight Championship
Here we go, a 'Trojan' vs a 'Pretty Boy', a fantastic clash of styles, but does the the boxer beat the puncher?
Josh Kelly starts dominant in the first round, landing a backhand uppercut followed by a crunching left hook.
Kelly elusive and flashy in these opening rounds, no punches landing from Troy.
Williamson is trying to close Kelly down but just a fraction too slow everytime. Strong finish to the third round.
There's a brief time-out in the fourth and Kelly resumes action with a stiff double jab. 10 seconds from the end and Williamson manages to land a big right hand to catch Kelly's attention.
Kelly back on his jab in fifth, then hurts Williamson midway through, who is caught flush and the legs stiffened momentarily. Kelly comes forward with big hooks. Big round for Kelly.
Good jab from Kelly on the two minute mark, They tangle up a lot this sixth round. Kelly looks so comfortable here.
28-year-old Kelly is boxing like a superstar here, he's having fun making Troy miss.
The sixth and sevnth rounds were kind of messy, no one really getting the better of each other.
Williamson is coming on strong, knowing he's behind, but Kelly is too mobile or him, even landing a couple of backhand uppercuts.
Williamson getting too frustrated here during the championship rounds, and you can't blame him. He's walking Kelly down but unable to nail him down.
Kelly ties Williamson up in the final round to do what he said he was going to do.
Williamson was bullish all the way through, but Kelly was just too slick for him.
Scorecards were read as 119-111, 118-110, 119-109 to Sunderland's Kelly, which were wholly accurate. Williamson was only able to claim a round or two in this Josh Kelly masterclass, who now becomes the British super-welterweight champion.
That's three wins and two belts in the bag for Kelly since his sole defeat to David Avanesyan.
CHIEF SUPPORT
Lyndon Arthur vs Joel McIntyre
Light Heavyweight – 10 Rounds
Tentative first round, but a round that Arthur certainly won. 'King Arthur' missed a few but managed to land the more eyecatching shots in the opener.
A big right hand in the second – off a one-two – and McIntyre's legs went from underneath him, the Portsmouth puncher tried everything to stay in there and even fired back under such duress, but after another flurry on the ropes – three big shots – the ref jumped in and stopped the fight. It was a great finish by Arthur and McIntyre can be proud that he was stopped on his feet and never went down.
