WBC pay tribute to Ali Tazeem
A fund-raising campaign to honor the memory of young boxing sensation Ali Tazeem, is gathering momentum.
Ali Tazeem from Wolverhampton died on Easter Sunday as the passenger in a car accident on Merridale Road, Wolverhampton. He was just eighteen years old. A devastating irreplaceable loss to his family friends, fellow students, and the boxing world.
Ali Tazeem who started boxing aged eight, immediatly showed exceptional God given skills and brilliance. He went on to win fifty-one amateur tournaments and sixteen gold medals at international level. Such was his phenomenal talent that he was even trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr. Former World Boxing Council Champion Amir Khan praised him as a tremendous and prodigious talent. He fought his last amateur bout in March and had signed a contract with Probellum. Superstardom would surely and certainly have been his.
Thousands of people of all ages joined Ali Tazeem`s funeral procession, which left the Mosque at Albert Road Birmingham and arrived at Aston Park for an open-air ceremony, to pay their respects. The Hearse was drawn by two white horses and two symbolic boxing gloves placed by his coffin read: Ali… and… Man.
His Father Toheed Tazeem thanked the local community for their outpouring of love and support at this time of immense grief. He described his Son as: “A kind hearted humble and beautiful spirit. We can`t let his legacy go. I want to do as much charity work as possible around the World in his name.”
A fund-raising campaign has already received more than thirteen thousand pounds, with more money and pledges arriving all the time. The World Boxing Council has sent a special Medal to Ali Tazeem`s family to mark his tremendous achievements. The entire Boxing Family in every corner of the World stands in tribute.
When someone so young dies we all weep, think of our loved ones and mourn. Ali Tazeem fulfilled all the potential available to him during his lifetime. He inspired his family, friends, community, and country, making them so very proud of him.
Ali Tazeem will always be remembered.
