OTX Kicks Off Summer Boxing Series
OTX – Overtime’s boxing league – kicks off a 4-week summer series on Friday, August 4th at OTE Arena in Atlanta and live on DAZN around the world.
The main event sees Elijah Pierce (17-2-0, 14KO) facing off in front of a hometown crowd against "Magic" Mike Plania (28-2-0, 15KO).
26-year-old Filipino Plania is a former IBF North American champion who looks to stake his claim as the next big thing with a career best win over American Pierce who has been tipped as a major prospect, with the ability to eventually compete for a world title.
The southpaw from Oklahoma, promoted by Tony Jeter, is 26 and ranked 3rd in America by BoxRec. Managed by Trifon Petrov and Jessie Tanksley, his two losses came against Giovanni Cabrera in fights nine and 11, and is now currently riding an eight-fight win streak, six by stoppage, which he will look to continue further against Philippines' Plania.
Pierce is heavy-handed with 14 KOs from 17 victories, but Plania has knocked out half the opponents he has faced, so this contest could provide fireworks!
Undercard
After her Bronze medal in the 2020 Olympics, Oshae Jones (3-0-0) looks to build upon the fine start she has made to her fledgling career with a win over Miranda Barber (3-4-0) in the co main event.
After missing weight in his last three fights, Haven Brady Jr. (9-0-0) is out to prove he’s more dedicated than ever to becoming an elite boxer as he battles Andre Rodriquez, making his broadcast debut.
Fighting at 126lbs, Xavian Ramirez is the youngest fighter to qualify for the Olympic trials. With an identical professional record (4-0), Ramirez’s fight against Ricardo Galvan will see two bright prospects battling to the finish.
Promising Featherweight Gabriel Muratalla (9-0-0) looks to live up to the family name with a win against Edwin Rodriquez (11-6-2). Muratalla is a school teacher by day and an elite boxer by night, and this fight could be career-defining against Rodriquez who is known to be a gatekeeper for fighters trying to step up a level.
OTX has set out to bring fans closer to fighters than ever before through stories from outside the ring alongside glory within, opting for an innovative and fan friendly rule set while respecting the essence of the sweet science.
OTX is implementing an Overtime Round. If there is a draw on the judges’ scorecards after the regularly scheduled rounds, there will be an additional winner takes all round. This allows the fighter to take their fate into their own hands and for the victory.
To incentivize the fighters, OTX is also offering a unique KO Bonus for every fight on the card. A KO in any round is rewarded, but there is a multiplier effect if the KO is in the first or last round to create a more compelling fight for fans from start to finish. On top of the KO bonuses OTX is opting for an 18×18 ft ring versus the standard 20-22 square foot sizes which means extra action.
All the fights will air exclusively on DAZN. For more information, visit https://otboxing.com/
