These are the top 10 British middleweights in the world rankings right now
The 160lbs weight category has always been one of boxing's most popular and watched divisions, mostly because the boxers are of a size where they can pack a punch to deliver knockouts like the heavyweights, but also able to be mobile and move like welterweights.
Find BBN's up-to-date list of the top 10 world-ranked middleweights from Britain below:
#1 Chris Eubank Jr
WBC #2 / WBA #1 / WBO #8 / IBO #2 / TBRB #7 / Ring #7 / BoxRec #1
Brighton boxer, Chris Eubank Jr., is by far and away the top-ranked middleweight in Britain right now. Currently trained by Roy Jones Jr., Eubank is a two-time IBO super-middleweight champion, and has beaten two former world champions (Arthur Abraham and James DeGale), but also lost to a former world champ and a reigning world champ (Billy Joe Saunders and George Groves).
#2 Liam Williams
WBC #5 / WBA #6 / WBO #7 / IBO #7 / TBRB #9 / Ring #10 / BoxRec #8
World title contender, Liam Williams, is a two-weight British champion who is aiming to take the top spot in his country next year by facing domestic rival and enemy Eubank Jr. The winner will be able to stake their claim as Britain's No.1 middleweight and push on to world title shots later in 2022.
#3 Felix Cash
WBC #18 / IBF #14 / WBO #9 / IBO #6 / BoxRec #17
Unbeaten in 14 pro fights, hard-hitting middleweight, Felix Cash, has already conquered the country by winning British and Commonwealth titles, and also a WBC International Silver belt that has rewarded him with a top 20 ranking. After vacating the Lonsdale belt, it's unsure what his next move will be, but you would assume he will move up to European level to start building towards crashing the world scene soon.
#4 Sam Eggington
WBC #10 / IBO #10 / BoxRec #15
Tough Brummie, Sam Eggington, has amassed quite a resume, with no less than nine belts in his trophy cabinet, the pinnacle being the British and European welterweight titles. He is now the current WBC Silver middleweight champion which winning and defending once has paid him back with a top 10 ranking with the World Boxing Council. His aim is to challenge for a world title within the next few fights, so you can expect to him defending his green and gold belt to a top contender next.
#5 Danny Dignum
WBO #4 / IBO #18 / BoxRec #22
Essex southpaw, Danny Dignum, trained by Kevin Lilley, has held the WBO European middleweight strap for over two years now and defends it next year to English title contender Grant Dennis. His lofty WBO world ranking means he is in touching distance of a world title challenge to champion Demetrius Andrade, who seems to enjoy fighting UK and Irish opponents, having beaten three in a row now.
#6 Anthony Fowler
IBF #13 / IBO #36 / BoxRec #25
After suffering a second defeat in his 'Battle of Liverpool' with former world champ Liam Smith, Anthony Fowler, has conceded that 154lbs is longer sustainable and made the move up to middleweight immediately after, but has yet to compete in his new division. Aged 30, 'The Machine' has plenty more to give to the sport as a professional and all eyes will be on his 160lbs debut in the New Year.
#7 Denzel Bentley
WBC #40 / WBO #14 / IBO #57 / BoxRec #41
Denzel Bentley's career-best win saw him claim the vacant British middleweight title in a rematch with Mark Heffron after their first fight reached a stalemate. He lost the Lonsdale belt in his first defence to Felix Cash, but bounced back in November this year with a fine third-round stoppage win over once-beaten Sam Evans. With the British middleweight title now vacant once more, you would imagine his ambitions will be to challenger for it again, but he will have to wait until the summer as Danny Dignum and Linus Udofia are set to lock horns for the prestigous title before the end of May.
#8 Linus Udofia
IBO #59 / BoxRec #107
Former English titlist Linus Udofia, 28 from Luton, is readying for a British title shot next year. With his new promotional team, Wasserman Boxing, behind him the Nigerian-born Lutonian is one of the most exciting prospects to keep your eye on 2022. His last two fights have ended early, so he is enthused and on-form right now.
#9 Bradley Rea
IBO 76 / BoxRec #112
Unbeaten in 11 bouts, training in Ricky Hatton's Manchester gym, Rea is still just 23 years of age with everything going for him. His last fight with serious contender Jez Smith was a hugely entertaining battle with plenty of drama, which he won 77-75 on points, scoring a knockdown in the first round. That victory proved he is solid prospect with a bright future. Two wins in 2021 against an unbeaten prospect and a Southern Area title contender who gave the current European super-welterweight champ plenty of trouble, should see him push on in 2022 to bigger and better things.
#10 Nathan Heaney
IBO #70 / BoxRec #142
'The Hitman' is known for his huge following from his local club Stoke City FC, but he is also unbeaten in 14 fights and a two-weight IBO regional titlist.
