With Tony Dixon out, Rico Mueller will now fight Mirko Natalizi
On April 22 in Verbania, Piemonte region in Italy, Welshman Tony Dixon (13-3, 4KOs) should have fought unbeaten Italian Mirko Natalizi (11-0, 7KOs) over the 10 rounds distance for the vacant WBC International Silver super'welterweight title. But now, Dixon will be replaced by Rico Mueller (28-4-1, 9KOs).
The 29-year-old 'Welsh Terrier' unfortunately loses out on the biggest fight of his career, which would have seen the two-time Welsh Area champion perform worldwide on DAZN.
Stand-in fighter Mueller won two IBO championships in the welterweight division being a former Youth and Intercontinental champion. In the super-lightweight division, he has fought against hard-hitting Jeremias Nicolas Ponce for the vacant IBO World title in September 2019 in Berlin losing narrowly on points by MD (118-110, 116-111 and 114-114).
The German last fought on July 31, 2021 as a super-welterweight losing inside the distance against Brit Anthony Fowler. All in all, Rico Mueller represents a serious test for rising star Mirko Natalizi.
The card will be streamed live by DAZN.
