WBC Titles Bonanza in Turkey
A huge boxing show in Istanbul, Turkey on April 30th with an incredible number of eight fights for WBC titles!
Three fights for the WBC Asia, two WBC Middle East, a WBC Youth World Female and a WBC International female fight between Angelina Lucas and Ana Arrazola, as well as the WBC Silver Female / Final Eliminator featuring Seren Cetin vs Mary Romero.
The event was organized by the Serdar Avci Promotion under the new commission created with the support of the WBC – the Turkish Professional Boxing Commission.
Politicians, Ministers and as a special guest – Eyup Gozdec, President of the Turkish Amateur Boxing Federation, who expressed his gratitude to the promoter Serdar Avci for the development of professional boxing. Eyup also thanked WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman for supporting Turkey.
During the boxing show, a $20,000 cheque from the World Boxing Council was presented to help victims of the earthquake in Turkey. This will purchase items to be sent to the affected areas of the largest earthquake there during the last hundred years.
26-year-old Kazakh Angelina Lukas moved up to 4-0 with a 10-round points decision over 50-fight veteran Ana Arrazola.
That's two titles in two consecutive fights for Lukas, after wiining the UBO World super-flyweight belt in December.
The elated champion said, "Thanks to my team! We won the Kazakhstan vs Mexico confrontation! And won the WBC title!
"Honestly, it was the hard, my opponent had [49] professional fights, she was world champion and WBC Silver champion, it's a huge experience.
It was hard and I took a lot of risks. The opponent was working very dirty, beating the back of the head, making dirty tricks, but I didn't pay attention. I have huge experience in amateur and lion heart.
"I fought for the honour of our country, for my family, for my coach and for everyone who supported me on this way.
"My opponent boxed with the whole world, but she never boxed with a Kazakh woman and that's why we won!"
