Two WBC champions clash in Cleveland
WBC featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (40-1-1, 30KOs), 32 from Puerto Rico, will defend her title against the WBC super-bantamweight champion, Yamileth “Yeimi” Mercado (18-2, 5KOs), 23 from Mexico, on Sunday, August 29 in Cleveland, Ohio, to be broadcast on Pago por Showtime event.
'The Real Deal' Serrano, managed by Jordan Maldonado, is considered to be one of the finest female boxers in the world, with an astonishing record of 40 wins and 30 knockouts. The single loss came at the hands of then 10-0 Frida Wallberg in 2012, meaning she hasn't lost in in over nine years.
Her 43rd foe is Chihuahua's “Yeimi”, the No.1 female super-bantamweight in Mexico. She comes into this next contest on a six-win streak, five of those contests being 10-round championship wins.
This attractive duel between Mexico and Puerto Rico will be the main endorsement of the evening starring Jake Paul (3-0) against the Mixed Martial Arts champion, Tyron Woodley.
