Terence Crawford is the ultimate unbeaten world champ, according to stats
Crawford boasts better record than any other unbeaten reigning world champion in boxing
Terence Crawford’s glittering boxing career is unrivalled when it comes to the records of unbeaten reigning world champions, according to research from William Hill, with Tyson Fury ranked third on the list.
Crawford’s career has seen him enjoy a stellar rise through the years, racking up an impressive 37-0-0 record since his professional debut in 2008, during which he’s held world championship titles in three weight classes while becoming the undisputed super lightweight champion.
Ahead of “Bud’s” defence of his current WBO welterweight title against Shawn Porter on Saturday, a study from William Hill, analysing the records of all 68 major world title holders across 17 different weight classes, has revealed that the 34-year-old American’s 37-0-0 record is five victories superior to his nearest unbeaten rival.
WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo is Crawford’s closest challenger with a 32-0-0 record, while WBC heavyweight champion Fury (31-0-1) sits third in the list following his most recent victory against Deontay Wilder last month.
WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade and WBC super featherweight champion Oscar Valdez complete the top five, ranking joint-fourth in the study with identical 30-0-0 records.
A spokesperson from William Hill said: “Terence Crawford has proved over the years that he is one of boxing’s greats and is quite rightly in the conversation when it comes to the best current pound-for-pound fighter in the sport with a 37-0-0 record.
“That got us thinking ahead of Crawford’s WBO welterweight title defence against Shawn Porter this weekend: who is the ultimate unbeaten world champion in boxing at this moment in time?
“It’s a resounding knockout victory for Crawford, who boasts five more wins over his nearest challenger, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, while there is also a place in the top three for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who holds a 31-0-1 record.”
